"I Hate to Hear the Story"
Psalms 119:104 "Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way."
(sung to the tune of "I Love to Tell the Story" by Katherine Hankey and Wm. G. Fischer)
I hate to hear the story of unseen speculations
That rob the Lord of glory through vain imaginations.
I hate to hear the story because I know it's not true.
It contradicts the Bible and all true science too.
Chorus: I hate to hear the story
that robs the Lord of glory -
to hear that old, old story
I hate to hear the story of apes becoming men
By natural selection according to Darwin.
Mutations could not do it, nor would our God above
For we were made by wisdom and God's a God of love.
I hate to hear the story that tells me I'm a beast -
That survival's for the fittest and extinction's for the least -
That inspired a man like Hitler to persecute the Jews
And untold unborn babies have died from this bad news.
I hate to hear the story - it's everywhere it seems -
In schools, and parks, museums, and books and magazines -
On TV and the movies; but what must be the worst
Is when I hear this bad news proclaimed within the church.
So let's all tell the story of Creation, Fall, and Flood.
And God provides salvation through Jesus' precious blood.
And fear not evolution, but speak the truth in love
So folks may find salvation and rise to God above.
chorus to be sung after last verse:
I love to tell the story.
'Twill be my theme in glory -
To tell that new, new story -
Of Jesus and His love.
